Krewe of Roux Mardi Gras Celebration

Krewe of Roux has been a tradition on campus for more than 25 years, serving as UPC's kick off to the Mardi Gras season.  This year the tradition continues with the Krewe of Roux parade, King and Queen selection and King Cake Give Away on Thursday, Februrary 4, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. followed by the new annual Mardi Gras ball later that night at the Cajun Dome Convention Center at 8:00 P.M.

PARADE:

The parade is open to all students, organizations, faculty/staff and University departments.  The deadline to REGISTER for the parade is Tuesday, February 2, 2016 by 4 P.M.  Participants may enter a vehicle (car or truck) or walk the parade route.  Line up for the parade will be at 3:30 P.M. on Rex Street (in front of Griffin Hall). The route will roll down Rex Street to St. Mary, turning RIGHT onto St. Mary, then LEFT onto Hebrard Blvd. and ending on Boucher Drive. The King and Queen selection and King Cake Give Away will take place on the plaza at The U (Student Union) immediately following the parade.

DUKES & MAIDS:

In addition to the Krewe of Roux parade, student organizations are allowed to nominate one male and/or one female as Duke and Maid.  The deadline to SUBMIT duke and maid nominations is Tuesday, February 2, 2016 by 4 P.M.  All dukes and maids must be present for the Krewe of Roux Mardi Gras parade, King and Queen selection and King Cake Give Away on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 4 P.M. on the plaza at The U (Student Union).  Each Duke and Maid will enjoy a piece of king cake, and the male and female getting the piece of cake with the baby will be crowned as the King and Queen of the Krewe of Roux.
