Parade Rules & Form
To participate in the parade, you must register using this form by Monday, October 19.
Parade information for floats:
- To participate in the parade this form must be submitted by MONDAY OCTOBER 19
- Parade will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015. Line up at 8:30 a.m. *Line up will be at BLACKHAM COLISEUM*
- Purpose of this event is to promote school spirit, therefore decorate your float accordingly.
- Remember that you are UL students and should conduct yourself in appropriate manner. This is an event that alumni, students, faculty, staff and members of the Lafayette community are invited to attend.
- All floats must be checked in by 9:15 a.m. No late arrivals will be allowed.
- Parade rolls at 10 a.m., Johnston to St. Mary Blvd ending just past the Alumni Center.
- This form must be submitted in order to participate in the parade.
- For floats COMPETING in the parade/sweepstakes competition remember that you must build/construct/decorate your float. No borrowed or rented floats in competition.
- Floats can not be higher than 15 feet from the ground due to electrical lines, trees, etc.
- No hay or straw on floats.
- Have the name of your organization on each side of the float. Both sides must be decorated the same.
- Only one float per organization
- No animals of any kind in the parade or on floats.
- No throwing beverages, liquids or other unacceptable items from float.
- Please have trash bags on floats.
- NO ALCOHOL allowed on any float or vehicles. IT'S THE LAW! Also no glass containers on floats or in vehicles. Violators will be subject to disciplinary action.
- No organization will be able to use the microphone or electronic equipment located on the judges' stand.
- No one is allowed to jump on or off of a float during the parade.
- Unless the entry is an organized marching group (i.e. dance team, band, etc.) no one will be allowed to walk the parade route.
- No floats will be allowed to remain at Blackham Coliseum.
- Organizations competing for Sweepstakes must be registered for & participate in the parade.
- Floats will be judged on creativity and spirit during parade.
- No floats will be allowed to display any political signs or distribute candidate buttons, pamphlets, etc; any entry doing so will be disqualified and may not be allowed to participate in the parade.
You may be removed from the parade at line-up or en route if any of the above rules are violated and your organization will be disqualified from this competition and subject to disciplinary action.
