Welcome Week

Welcome Week for the fall 2015 semester is Monday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 28. These first five days of the semester consist of activities designed so you can reconnect with your friends and make new ones as you come back to campus or arrive for the first time.

Events for Welcome Week 2015:

  • Fruit and Donut Give-a-way - Located on the corner of Rex St. and St. Mary Blvd. University administrators, including Provost Dr. James Henderson, coaches and student leaders hand out the treats. Join us from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24.
  • Get On Board Day - Student organizations across campus set up tables to promote their organizations. You can walk from table to table and find the organization(s) that would be best for you to join. Discover ways to get involved and make new connections. There's an organization for everyone, and you can learn more about them from your fellow students from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
  • Rec Fest - Sponsored by Rec Sports: Come see what Rec Sports has to offer at Bourgeois Hall and get information on intramurals, Group X fitness classes, our fitness center, club sports, and the aquatic center. Join Rec Sports for a night of free food, activities all culminating in a Cajun Color Run at Bourgeois Park. Get there early, because only the first 300 students will get to RUN! Rec Fest is at Bourgeois Hall, located at 225 Cajundome Boulevard, from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27. You can take the night shuttle from the main campus to Bourgeois Hall for easy transportation.
  • Block Party - Held on the corner of Rex. Sreet and St. Mary Boulevard. Join us for free shirts, drinks, bags, and a ride on the mechanical bull from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28.

Welcome Week 

Held the first week of classes in the fall. This consists of activities meant to greet students as they come back to campus or arrive for the first time. These activities include:

  • Fruit and Donut Give-a-way - Located on the corner of Rex St. and St. Mary Blvd. University administrators, coaches and student leaders hand out the treats.
  • Get On Board Day - Student organizations across campus set up tables in the Quad to promote their organizations. Students are able to walk from table to table to help find the organization(s) that would be best for them to join. This gives students the opportunity to discover ways to get involved and make new connections.
  • Breakfast in the Quad - Students, faculty and staff get a chance to enjoy free breakfast in the Quad.
  • Block Party - Held on the corner of Rex. St. and St. Mary Blvd. This ends Welcome Week, a series of activities during the first week of classes in the fall. Students line up on Rex St. to get free shirts, drinks, bags, and sometimes even free rides on a mechanical bull.
